remembering grandpa’s house
My grandpa recently turned 90. Chris and I got to go visit for the weekend and celebrate with all my cousins. It was really fun. While I was there, I took some photos of Grandpa’s house. I have so many fond memories in that house — we would visit every summer when we were kids.
Here are just a few:
The living room. Grandpa’s house is full of antiques and beautiful art.
The other side of the living room. I wish I had a giant bench.
The kitchen. Don’t you love that rug? When I was little, I loved that mural hiding the door. I thought it was so magical.
The family room. I want that table (Chris is going to help me build one). One thing I’ll always love about this room is the white washed wood paneled ceiling with white beams.
Another bench. I want a bench (did I say that already?). That beautiful antique quilt is amazing — six-point stars or cubes?
This corner is in the pool room. I’m pretty sure the books are in a plate rack (family — is that right?). I love this kind of book storage.
Last, but not least, two close-ups of a couple antique quilts. My grandma has a whole collection of these. I love the fabric combination. The stitching is amazing. And they aren’t perfect which makes me want to try quilting again.

Hi cousin! I love your blog. I love grandpa’s house too, glad you got some good pictures of it. My favorite parts of the house are his ceiling in the family room and the decor. I do believe the book shelf is a plate rack, what a good idea. I made that wreath on top of it for grandma when I was ten, it’s cool to see that they’ve kept it!
hi annie! good wreath-making 🙂
Wow! What a beautiful home! Not your typical “grandpa house.” I can see why you love it. Thanks for sharing:)
